Biography

 

Juan Nunez returns for his junior year and is expected to be among the top doubles players in NCAA Division II men’s tennis in 2008. He and Ryan Nunez are ranked No. 3 in men’s doubles in NCAA_Division II, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s pre-season rankings. Last fall he won the Lone Star Conference singles championship by virtue of his win in No. 1 singles at the LSC Fall Individual Championship Tournament in Wichita Falls. He and Ryan Hudson went on to win the ITA_Central Region doubles title and then they finished third in doubles at the ITA_Small College National Championship Tournament.  2006-07 (Sophomore): Nunez was a second team all-LSC selection as a singles player, finishing with a combined singles record of 10-11. Nunez was 8-10 at the No. 1 spot and 2-1 at No. 2. He was a first team all-LSC_selection in doubles. He finished a combined 17-6 in doubles action. His primary partner was former Wildcat Kevin Beedy, and together they finished 7-5 in doubles action.  2005-06 (Freshman):_Enjoyed a tremendous first season at ACU, earning LSC_Freshman of the Year honors.  Nunez compiled a 15-7 overall singles record, primarily playing in the No. 3 spot, where he went 7-4. Also proved his excellence as a doubles player as he went 19-6 with six different partners.  Personal:_An experienced international player, Nunez ranked in the top four in Mexico in Boys 16s singles, and he ranked in the top 50 in Mexico’s pro rankings. Born 16 January 1987. 2005 graduate of Escuela Preparatoria de la Laguna High School.
