After spending two seasons as a graduate assistant coach, Colton Southall was named the Director of Basketball Operations in June of 2021. In his first year with the team, the Wildcats posted a 20-11 record with a 15-5 mark in conference play to secure the two-seed in the conference tournament. The postseason was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Southall helped the Wildcats to their second NCAA tournament appearance in 2021 where ACU upset Texas in the first round, 53-52. 

For the Wildcats, he coordinates team and recruiting travel, team meals, practice, oversees manager staff, handles freshmen eligibility, and serves as the summer camp coordinator. 

Prior to his time with the Wildcats, Southall earned two bachelor's degrees from Radford University in Criminal Justice and Accounting. While at Radford he served as the team manager for their men's basketball team. He was part of teams that won the the Big South Tournament championship in 2018 and the Big South regular season championship in 2019.
