2013 (Junior): Played in 11 games (no starts), finishing the season with 12 tackles (five solo). Had a season-high three tackles on Sept. 21 in ACU’s 31-17 loss at Illinois State.
2012 (Sophomore): Played in all 11 games for the Wildcats, finishing with 25 tackles (14 solo stops), including 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack. He also had one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup. Posted a career-high six tackles in ACU’s Sept. 22 loss at Angelo State. He posted his only sack of the season in ACU’s Sept. 8 loss against Texas A&M-Kingsville when he also had three tackles, two tackles for loss and the sack.
2011 (Redshirt freshman): Played in all 11 games during the 2011 season, including starts in the final three games of the campaign. Boyd finished with 15 tackles (eight solo), including 6.0 tackles for loss for minus-24 yards in losses and 4.0 sacks for minus-22 yards in losses. He had his best game in the Wildcats’ Oct. 29 win over Texas A&M-Commerce when he finished the game with four total tackles, including 2.5 sacks for minus-13 yards in loss and one forced fumble.
2010 (Sam Houston State): Redshirt at defensive end in 2010 for the Bearkats.
High school: Three-year varsity letterman, team captain, two-time all-District 16-4A and two-time all-state for coach Sam Harrell, Abilene Christian graduate. As junior he had 11 QB sacks, 13 tackles behind LOS and 80 tackles. As senior he had 10 QB sacks, 14 tackles behind LOS and 82 tackles. Academic all-state in football, team defensive MVP, and state qualifier in power lifting. Boyd was a three-time class president and also president of National Honor Society.
