2011 (Senior): Preseason LSC Defensive Player of the Year for Wildcat team picked to repeat as LSC champion and ranked as high as second in NCAA Division II preseason polls. Preseason first team all-America selection by d2football.com.
2010 (Junior): Turned in another dominating performance to lead Wildcats to first 11-0 regular season in ACU history. Earned first team all-LSC, LSC Defensive Lineman of the Year for the third time, Daktronics all-Region IV as selected by CoSIDA, Daktronics Region IV Defensive Player of the Year, and all-Region IV and third team all-America by Football Gazette. Had 28 tackles (18 solo) in 12 games with 10 starts along with 14.5 tackles behind LOS (74 yards in losses), 7 QB sacks (47 yards in losses), 1 interception returned for 58 yards and a TD (in 65-3 win over Tarleton State), 5 fumble recoveries and 3 blocked kicks. Led team in QB sacks and tackles for loss.
2009 (Sophomore): Emerged as one of the top defensive ends in NCAA Division II. Whiteside was named first team all-America and first team all-region. He finished second in the LSC in sacks and tops for ACU with 9.5 for a total loss of 83 yards. Whiteside was also second for the Wildcats with 14.5 tackles for a loss totaling 98 yards. Earned first team all-Lone Star Conference honors, helping the Wildcats produce one of the stingiest defenses in the league, allowing 291 yards per game. He twice recorded 5 tackles last season against SE Oklahoma and in the regular season finale at Midwestern State. Was dominate in the backfield against top passing team in the league, Eastern New Mexico, with 4 quarterback hurries and 1 pass break-up
2008 (Freshman): Whiteside was voted first team all-Lone Star Conference South Division and was the division’s co-Defensive Lineman of the Year and the Freshman of the Year. He finished third in the league in sacks with 9.0 (minus 82 yards in losses), and he was sixth in the league in tackles for loss with 16.0 (minus 109 yards in losses). He finished the season with 30 tackles (20 solo), including 16.0 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks. He also had 2 forced fumbles, recovered 4 fumbles, had 7 quarterback hurries, 3 pass breakups and 1 blocked kick. He returned the 4 fumble recoveries for a total of 58 yards, including touchdown returns of 29 yards (vs. Texas A&M-Commerce on Sept. 13) and 10 yards (at Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 27). Whiteside was totally dominating in the Wildcats’ 47-17 win over Midwestern State in the regular-season finale as he finished with 6 tackles (5 solo), 3.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks in a win that secured an outright LSC title for ACU for the first time since 1973 and gave the program only its second perfect regular-season record (10-0) in history (10-0 in 1950 is the other). He was a first team NCAA Division II all-Super Region 4 selection by Daktronics and a third team all-region pick by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette.
2007 (Freshman): Redshirt.
High school: One of the top fullbacks in the state in 2006, leading Vernon HS to the Class 3A Division II semifinals before a loss to Celina ended its season. Whiteside – a standout on both sides of the ball – ran for 1,934 yards and 24 TDs to earn first team all-district honors. He was the MVP of the Wichita Falls Times Record-News Red River 22 team and was selected to play in the Texas High School Coaches Association all-star game. He finished the game with 5 carries for 15 yards in a 14-0 North loss.
