2013 (Junior): Played in 11 games (starting 10) at safety for ACU. Didn’t start against New Mexico State because of an injury, but he did play in the Wildcats’ 34-29 loss. Led the Wildcats in tackles with 109, including a team-best 72 solo stops. Lopez also had 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and four pass breakups. Both of his interceptions came in a 10-tackle performance in a 40-6 Homecoming win over Incarnate Word on Oct. 19. Lopez had double-digit tackle totals in seven of the Wildcats’ 11 games, including a career-high 17 (13 solo stops) in ACU’s season-ending 65-45 win over Prairie View A&M (Nov. 16). That capped a four-game season-ending stretch for Lopez that saw him post 10 tackles vs. Incarnate Word (Oct. 19), 11 against New Mexico State (Oct. 26), 12 in a 34-31 loss at Incarnate Word (Nov. 9) and 17 against the Panthers.
2012 (Sophomore): Played in all 11 games for the Wildcats, starting the last nine straight at safety. Finished the season with 87 tackles and was voted honorable mention all-Lone Star Conference in ACU’s final season in the league. He had 45 solo tackles among those 87 stops, including 2.5 tackles for loss, one-half sack, one forced fumble, one interception, one quarterback hurry and one pass breakup. Had a four-game stretch from Oct. 13-Nov. 3 where he recorded at least 11 tackles in all four games. He had 13 (six solo) against West Texas A&M on Oct. 13, 12 in a Homecoming loss to Midwestern State (Oct. 20), 11 in a come-from-behind road win at Texas A&M-Commerce (Oct. 27), and 12 in an overtime home win over West Alabama (Nov. 3).
2011 (Redshirt freshman): Played in 10 games as a redshirt freshman, recording 20 tackles (13 solo) and 1.5 tackles for loss. In the Wildcats’ Oct. 1 win over Western Oregon, Lopez finished with seven tackles (five solo), and four weeks later in an Oct. 29 win over Texas A&M-Commerce he had four tackles (three solo), including the 1.5 tackles for loss.
2010 (Freshman): Redshirt.
High school: Four-year letterman and three-year starter as wide receiver, running back and defensive back. Had 53 tackles as sophomore, 73 tackles as junior, and 657 all-purpose yards rushing and receiving as junior. Captain and second team all-district as junior. Also competed in track and field.
