Biography
Edwards missed the entire 2006 season with injuries. Gained a redshirt season and enters the 2007 season listed as the backup to Willis Hogan at defensive tackle.
2005 (Junior): Injuries limited the Wildcats' top interior defensive lineman to just four games, and he had only 11 tackles on the season.
2004 (Sophomore): Finished with 44 tackles (15 solo), including 6.5 for loss. He also had 3.5 sacks and one fumble recovery from his nose guard position. Had a big game in ACU's 17-10 upset road win over then-No. 2 Texas A&M-Kingsville on Oct. 30, when he came up with eight tackles (one solo). His effort helped hold the Javelinas to just 81 yards on the ground and 287 total yards. He earned second team all-Lone Star Conference South Division honors for the second straight season.
2003 (Freshman): Finished the season with 23 tackles (seven solo), including three tackles for loss. He also had one sack and one forced fumble from the tackle position. He earned second team all-Lone Star Conference South Division honors.
High school: Was rated the No. 41 prospect in the state by one recruiting service after his senior season at Dayton HS. Was recruited by several Division I schools, including Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, LSU, Missouri, Iowa, Tulsa, Georgia and Baylor. SuperPrep recruiting magazine, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and Austin-based recruiting analyst David Garvin all ranked Edwards among the top 100 college football prospects in Texas after the 2001 season. Was named first team Class 4A all-state by the Texas Sports Writers Association after the 2001 season. Recorded 92 tackles and five sacks as a senior.
