ABILENE, TX—The ACU Wildcats battled hard but ultimately dropped game three to Indiana with a final score of 7-6 this afternoon at Bullock Brothers Ballpark. The non-conference matchup was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading runs throughout the contest.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Indiana responded in the top of the sixth, exploding for three runs to take the lead. The Wildcats answered right back in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs and keeping the Hoosiers behind 5-3.
The Hoosiers tied the game in the top of the seventh with three runs. ACU added back a run in the bottom of the eighth. With the bases loaded, Benjamin Greer lured a walk to score Holden Rook, tying the game 6-6.
The Wildcats were unable to fend off the Hoosiers, T.J. Schuyler singling to right field, securing the lead by scoring Tyler Cerny.
Offensively, Abilene Christian and Indiana both tallied eight hits apiece. Zandt Payne led the Wildcats with three hits and two RBIs, while T.J. Schuyler contributed two hits and two RBIs for Indiana.
