ARLINGTON, Texas - The ACU men's tennis team battled to win three matches that went the full three sets, but could not overcome UT Arlington, losing 4-3 on Thursday afternoon.
The Wildcats are now 11-9 this spring and wrap up their regular season with a match in Waco against Oklahoma State on Saturday beginning at 3 p.m.
ACU earned three-set victories at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles.
Tomas Tischner,
Martin Delnido and
Benjamin McDonald each outlasted their opponent from UTA.
However, the Mavericks won each of the top three singles matches. Victories at No. 2 and 3 doubles gave UTA the slim team win.
ACU did improve over the first meeting with the Mavericks which UTA won 5-1 in Abilene on Feb. 27.
After Saturday's match, which is being hosted by Baylor, the Wildcats will prepare for the WAC Championships at the same UTA Tennis Center they played at on Thursday.
The conference tournament is April 17-19 in Arlington. ACU made it to the championship match in 2023.
