ACU Blanked by Baylor, Series Finale on Saturday

WACO, Texas - The ACU softball team was roughed up by Baylor's bats in a run-rule shortened, 11-0 loss in nonconference action on Friday night.

The Wildcats and Bears face off again on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Getterman Stadium.

Grad student Taylor Bachmeyer singled to left field to lead-off the game, but then the next 11 ACU batters were retired. The Wildcats' only other hit of the evening came in the fourth inning when Miranda Lista ran out an infield single.

ACU loaded the bases with one out in the fifth with a hit-by-pitch sandwiched between a pair of walks. However, the Cats could not cash in as Baylor took a forceout at home, and a fly out to right ended the inning.

Lina Russo made her 22nd start of the season in the pitching circle. Baylor knocked out five runs - four earned - on six hits in three innings against ACU's ace.

Freshman Taylor Haywood came on for the final 1.1 innings. The Bears hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth to push them over the mercy rule threshold and the end game prematurely.

Saturday's game is available on ESPN+ (with paid subscription). ACU returns to Abilene for a three-game series versus rival Tarleton State on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19.
