ACU Secures Series, Fails to Sweep on Sunday

ABILENE – Abilene Christian wrapped up its three-game series against Youngstown State on Sunday at Crutcher Scott Field, falling short in the series finale with an 8-5 loss. Despite the setback, the Wildcats secured the series win, having taken the first two games.

The game started slowly for ACU, with the offense unable to generate runs through the first five innings. However, the Wildcats showed resilience in the sixth, putting up a three-run frame to get on the board. They added two more in the eighth, but Youngstown State's consistent offensive pressure proved too much to overcome.

ACU's offense managed only three hits in the contest, but they capitalized on timely opportunities, including a home run from catcher Maddox Miesse. and a double from Ben Greer. The Wildcats also took advantage of five hit-by-pitches to create scoring chances.

On the mound, ACU's pitching staff struck out 10 batters but allowed 13 hits and eight earned runs. Despite a solid effort in relief, the Wildcats could not contain Youngstown State's late-inning offense.

ACU now sits at 3-4 overall and will be back home for a four-game series against the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Friday, February 28. The first pitch for the first game was at 6:05 p.m. (CT). Tickets for single games will be online for $10, and season tickets will be on sale for $150.
