Wildcats Battle Mean Green in Wednesday Morning Matchup

DENTON, Texas - Abilene Christian women's basketball continues its four-game road trip with a midweek matchup versus North Texas at the Super Pit at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The Wildcats look to return to the win column while picking up their first-ever win over the Mean Green.

ACU can still continue its best start to a season since the 2021-22 campaign, when it won seven of its first eight games. The Wildcats are searching for their first win over the Mean Green, having met each other in 2013 and 2024. Last year, Payton Hull scored 21 points as ACU lost a 71-60 decision at Moody Coliseum.

The Wildcats aim to rebound from a narrow 77-76 loss to Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, Texas on Nov. 14. The Wildcats mounted a comeback from 13 points down to take a one-point lead with 10 seconds remaining, but the Ladyjacks scored the winning basket with four seconds to go.

Four Wildcats scored in the double figures, paced by Hull's 22 points with nine rebounds, five steals and three assists. Erin Woodson and Emma Troxell scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, while Meredith Mayes notched her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards.

ACU ranks within the Western Athletic Conference's top three in scoring offense and defense, putting up 81.0 points per game while allowing 56.0. Hull (15.5), Woodson (15.3), Mayes (13.8) and Troxell (12.8) are each within the WAC's top 11 for points per game, with Troxell and Mayes also ranking in the top 11 for rebounds per game.

Mayes remains the conference's leader in field goal percentage at .645, a season removed from shooting .594. Woodson is in second at .558, while Troxell (.455) and Hull (.348) rank sixth and ninth, respectively. The Wildcats boast the WAC's top field goal percentage at .448.

Breanna Davis, who began her career at North Texas in 2022, is the daughter of former Mean Green men's basketball player and 2008 UNT Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Chris Davis. She is second in the conference with 4.75 assists per game and leads the way with a 2.71 assist to turnover ratio.

Hull, Woodson and Troxell are within the WAC's top 11 for steals per game, with Woodson also ranking sixth in assists per game.
