Hill Scores Against UTSA to End in 1-1 Tie

SAN ANTONIO – ACU Soccer faced a strong challenge on the road, drawing 1-1 with UTSA in a hard-fought match on Sunday at the Park West Athletics Complex. The Wildcats, now 2-2-6 on the season, were able to equalize the score in the first half and hold off heavy offensive pressure from the Roadrunners throughout the game.

UTSA struck first, finding the back of the net in the 18th minute. Despite the early setback, ACU remained composed. In the 29th minute, Peyton Hill delivered a crucial goal with an assist from Raegan Hollis. With Hill's second goal of the season, tied the game at 1-1. Hill was a standout performer for ACU, registering two shots on goal.

The Wildcats' defense faced a barrage of 23 total shots from UTSA, with goalkeeper Emma Konsmo rising to the occasion, making six key saves to keep the Roadrunners at bay. ACU managed nine shots in the contest, four on target.

"A valiant effort on the road from our team against a talented UTSA side," said head coach Stephen Salas. "We always want the win but a well earned point for the tie. I was proud of how we responded to go down a goal and we addressed that future mentality if that does happen."

Despite UTSA's dominant possession and seven corner kicks, the Wildcats' backline, anchored by Gracie Kelly and Georgia Guenther, held firm, ensuring the game ended even.

"We've worked on the build up to the goal in our last training which was great to see the team apply it," Salas said. "Peyton scored a fantastic breakaway goal from a Raegan Hollis through ball. The team defending was outstanding throughout the day and we are excited for this play moving into conference. We purposely setup this game against a top UTSA side to prepare us for conference play."

With their final non-conference contest ending, the Wildcats return to Elmer Gray to open conference against Seattle U. Game time is 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. Live Stats will also be available for the game.
