ABILENE - With their second away game completed, the Wildcats held Northwestern State to a scoreless draw, extending their unbeaten streak to four games this season with a 0-0 result.
ACU's defense was solid throughout the match, anchored by goalkeepers Lili Ross and Julia Herges, who combined for five saves. The Wildcats outshot the Lady Demons 16-8, with standout performances from players like Chayse Thorn and Amelia Leggett, who consistently put pressure on NSU's backline. Despite having more opportunities, including five corner kicks, ACU couldn't find the back of the net.
"We wanted to test our team with two tough games on the road and we earned every minute of remaining unbeaten," said head coach
Stephen Salas. "We created many opportunities to find the winner but NSU was stifling around their goal. Hats off to our team defending and our opportunity to go deep into our roster and maintain the same poise."
Heading into this week, the Wildcats will face Prairie View A&M on Sept. 5 and Houston Christian on Sept. 8.
"We have two more road tests next week that we will build towards in our training and review," Salas said. "Our discipline around the goal will improve and we will continue our focus towards competing for a WAC tournament championship. Our resilience in defending will be key for these future matchups."
