ABILENE – Abilene Christian dropped game one of a three-game series to Texas-Rio Grande Valley on Friday, 7-4.

The teams are scheduled to play the second game on Saturday at 10:05 a.m. and the third game is set for 1:05 p.m. on Sunday.
After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first,
Miller Ladusau and
Benjamin Greer hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the home half of the inning for ACU.

Aaron Staehely put the Wildcats ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the second with an RBI triple.

The Vaqueros took the lead for good with three runs in the third and added two more in the fourth for a 7-3 lead.

Staehely took third on a wild pitch and scored on an error in the seventh for ACU's final run.

The Cats had 10 hits, led by Ladusau, Greer,
Gino D'Alessio and Staehely with two each.
Maddox Miesse and
Zandt Payne added a single each.

Austin Glaze (4-4) took the loss.
Caden Greanead and
Blaine Palmer pitched a scoreless 2.2 innings each.
