HARLINGEN – Abilene Christian finished women's tennis season in the WAC semifinals after a 4-0 loss to top-seeded Grand Canyon on Friday.
"Not the result we wanted today, but I am extremely proud of our fight," said ACU Head Coach
Bryan Rainwater. "We competed hard until the very end! This is a great group and they persevered through the entire season. I am excited about the future of the program and grateful to Andy and MJ for all they have done to establish our culture these last four years. It's definitely a bittersweet end to the season, but I just can't say enough of how proud I am of the entire team!"
ACU played three close doubles matches with a pair of 6-4 losses.
Masha Vrsalovic had the lead at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 3-0, when GCU clinched the match.
Andrea Guerrero was up a set at No. 5 singles.
The Wildcats finished the season at 8-13.
