Lina Russo scattered five hits in a complete-game gem and Abilene Christian claimed a 2-1 win to start the three-game series at Stephen F. Austin on Friday.
Avery Miloch delivered a 1-0 lead for the Wildcats, leading off the second inning with her fifth home run of the season.
SFA got its lone run in the fifth.
Sammie Shelander singled to lead off the top of the sixth and pinch runner
Teiah Keliiholokai scored from second on an RBI single by
Riley White.
Russo struck out a season-best nine hitters in her seven innings and held SFA to two hits in 16 at-bats with runners on base. It is her fourth win of the season.
The Cats had six hits: Miloch's home run, two singles by Randi Davila and a single each by
Bubba Rote, Shelander and White.
The teams finish the series with a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
