ABILENE – Abilene Christian took an 8-7 win over Texas Arlington on Saturday to even the series heading into Sunday's game, which has been moved up to 12:05 p.m. due to weather.
Miller Ladusau had four hits, including two doubles and a home run to pace ACU's 16-hit outing.
The Wildcats scored three times in the first inning on an RI double by
Miller Ladusau and RBI singles from
Gino D'Alessio and
Caden Matlon.
ACU went ahead 4-1 in the third on Ladusau's solo home run to center field.
After UTA made it a 4-3 game in the top of the fourth, ACU added a sacrifice fly by
Garrett Williams for a 5-3 lead.
Zandt Payne drove in a run with a base hit in the sixth and
Ranse Radtke added a two-run single in the seventh for an 8-4 lead.
The Mavericks threatened with three in the eighth but
Cade McGarrh came in and shut things down for his second save of the season. McGarrah allowed one hit and fanned two in 1.2 innings.
Payne finished with three hits, D'Alessio and Williams added two apiece and
DJ Van Atten, Matlon, Radtke,
Benjamin Greer and
Holden Rook added one each.
Chandler Benson got the win in relief.
