ARLINGTON – Abilene Christian outhit Oklahoma State and Wildcat pitchers fanned 13 batters but the Cowboys claimed the 8-4 win at Globe Life Park on Wednesday.
OSU scored three first-inning runs on one hit but
Maddox Miesse got an RBI single to make it a 3-1 game in the bottom of the first.
The Wildcats scored their final three runs in the second inning to take a 4-3 lead.
Garrett Williams and
DJ Van Atten had RBI singles and
Gino D'Alessio added a sacrifice fly for the 4-3 lead.
The Cats had eight hits in the first two innings but left bases loaded in both frames.
OSU tied the game in the top of the third and added a run in the fourth and two in the seventh for the final margin.
Williams, Van Atten and
Cade McGarrh had two hits apiece to pace ACU's nine-hit attack.
Miller Ladusau, Miesse and
Zandt Payne also had base hits.
Caden Greanead took the loss in relief but struck out four batters in his three innings.
Dash Albus fanned five batters in his 2.1 innings.
Rolando De La Cruz and
Brett Garcia also struck out two Cowboys.
It was ACU's second trip to Globe Life in as many season. The Cats topped Oklahoma in extra innings last season.
The 3-2 Wildcats host Penn in a four-game series this weekend, starting with a 6:05 p.m. game on Friday.
