Thorn, Denn Combine for 5 Goals in Shutout

ABILENE – Abilene Christian pushed out another clean sheet on Friday and Chayse Thorn got a hat trick in a 5-0 rout of Texas-Permian Basin.

Thorn produced her third multi-goal game of the season and her first career hat trick. It is her fifth career multi-goal outing. Taylor Denn added a brace for her first multiple-goal game of the year.

ACU continued its school-record string with its fifth consecutive shutout to start the season. The Wildcats are one of seven Division I teams that hasn't been scored upon and only one other – Old Dominion – has played five games.

"Great goals all around, Chayse putting three away and Taylor getting two, and we just talked about the discipline to get another shutout," said ACU Head Coach Stephen Salas. "It's going well and the culture is going well and we're just moving forward."

Thorn scored in the 20th minute on a powerful boot for the game-winner. Denn made it 2-0, getting an assist from Macie Stephens in the 22nd minute.

Thorn got her second goal of the night in the 41st minute, playing in a feed from Jazilyn Torres for the 3-0 lead. Denn scored with an assist from Thorn in the 54th minute and Thorn wrapped up the scoring with her third goal in the 58th minute.

Lili Ross and Savanna Alba combined for three saves in the shutout with Alba getting two.

ACU launched 22 shots on the game, led by Thorn with five, Jillian Beck with three, McCarly Holloman, Denn, Peyton Hill, Baylie Simon and Georgia Guenther with two each and one apiece from Lox Neves, Anja Lewis, Hannah Vetromile and Hannah Martin.

The Wildcats, 4-0-1, put their streak to the test again on Sunday with a trip to Texas Tech. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. The Red Raiders also are 4-0-1.
