ABILENE – The characteristic three-point shooting of Abilene Christian was pretty much absent on Saturday as the Wildcats phased out 2023 with a 66-49 loss at the hands of Louisiana Tech.
The Cats shot 18.2 percent from that range for the game (4-22).
Gracy Wernli came off the bench for 11 points and was three of three from the arch, meaning the rest of the team was one of 19.
Louisiana Tech never trailed in the game.
Addison Martin led ACU with 16 points.
The Wildcats were warriors in the rebounding column, out-boarding the Lady Techsters 36-28 behind 11-rebound efforts by
Bella Earle and
Clare Traeger. Earle also led the team with four assists.
ACU hits the road to start 2024, taking on Texas-Rio Grande Valley at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6.
