HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The ACU baseball team dropped the regular season finale on Saturday, falling 5-4 to Sam Houston on the road. The Wildcats have secured their spot in the postseason and will now prepare for their first-ever Western Athletic Conference Tournament.
How It Happened
- The Bearkats started the scoring in the home third, when an extra-base hit plated the first run of the game all the way from first.
- ACU's offense came to life in the sixth, as
Bryson Hill lifted a ball over the wall in left-center to put the Purple and White in front 3-1.

Alexei Cazarin drew a based-loaded walk in the top of the eighth to push it to a 4-1 Wildcat lead, but Sam Houston came away with four hits in the bottom half to tie the game.
- SHSU centerfielder Lane Brewster strolled to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, singling home the winning run in walk-off fashion.

- Adam Stephenson delivered a strong start on the mound, scattering five hits and just one earned run over 6.2 innings of work.
- Trevor Jackson was the highlight of the day for the Wildcat bullpen, overcoming a hit and two walks to record a scoreless outing.
- Shortstop Bash Randle and designated hitter Tommy Cruz each gave ACU a pair of base hits, while Tweedt led the way in RBI.
Beyond the Box Score
- Hill has reached base safely in each of his last 16 games, giving him a new season-best. Saturday was his 10th game of the season with multiple RBI.
- ACU's defense did not record an error on Saturday, marking the 24th time this season they have played flawless with the glove.
On Deck
- The Wildcats will open the WAC Tournament in Mesa, Arizona on Wednesday in a matchup that pits the 2021 Southland Champions against the 2021 WAC Champions. First pitch against Grand Canyon is slated for 9:00 p.m. CT, with the winner playing at the same time the following evening against the winner of Seattle and Lamar.
