‘Cats focused on WAC Tourney after tight battle with division’s top team

ABILENE, Texas – The ACU women's tennis team was tripped up in a match that lasted almost four hours on Saturday afternoon, falling 4-3 at the hands of Tarleton. The Wildcats clinch a berth in their first ever Western Athletic Conference with Lamar's loss on Saturday, and the bracket is set to be released at a later time.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Texans took the first two doubles matches to earn the first point of the afternoon. 
  • Tarleton won the opening singles match before Andrea Guerrero defeated Elsa Boisson 6-2, 6-4 on Court 4 to get the 'Cats on the board. 
  • Paula Garrote evened the score at 2-2 with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the sixth singles flight. 
  • The Texans won on Court 5, but Allison Stewart answered with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the second flight to turn all eyes to center court. 
  • Maryjoe Crisologo dropped the first set 6-3 before storming back with a tiebreaking win in the second set. The third set proved crucial, as another 7-6 score was decided by a 10-8 tiebreaker, allowing the Texans to remain unbeaten in league play.
