Wildcats tally 12 hits Saturday vs. Tarleton

ABILENE – Bash Randle tallied three hits, Tommy Cruz and Mitchell Dickson each had two-hit days, but the ACU baseball team fell to Tarleton on Saturday at Crutcher Scott Field, 12-6. The Wildcats (11-11, 4-4 WAC) held a 6-5 lead into the eighth inning, but a five-run eighth and a two-run ninth gave the Texans (9-12, 5-3 WAC) the lead and they eventually pulled away in the game. The teams turn to Sunday for the series finale, which begins at 1:05 p.m.

How It Happened
- ACU was the team that scored first Friday, but this time it was Tarleton, leading 2-0 after a two-run single in the top of the second.
- Randle drove in Cruz with an rbi-single in the home second to get ACU back within one, 2-1.
- Eager lifted a ball high to left field in the home third, and the ball just kept going and got out of the park for a three-run homer to put ACU in front, 4-2.
- Tarleton then responded with three runs with a pair of batters who got hit by the pitch with the bases loaded and a wild pitch. The visitors led 5-4 in the middle of the fourth inning.
Tanner Tweedt, getting the start behind the plate, tied the game at 5-5 with an rbi-double to score Randle.
- Dickson, the DH, singled in the bottom of the sixth to break the tie and give ACU the lead, 6-5, plating Brett Hammit.
- The game turned with a five-run eighth inning for Tarleton. The Texans added two more in the ninth to win 12-6.

Stat Pack
- Randle hadn't had a hit since his three-hit game against SFA, but responded with three more Saturday. It's his second three-hit game this season.
- Cruz and Dickson tallied two hits, with Dickson tallying an RBI.
- Eager led the way with three runs driven in.
- Both teams used seven pitchers Saturday; ACU's Adam Byrd took the loss, while Sam Berberich led the way with a 3.1 inning performance out of the bullpen, allowing one run on one hit.
- Connor Carlton got the start, throwing 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits.
- Berberich, Drake Boggan, and Trevor Jackson each tallied two strikeouts.

Beyond the Box Score
- It was Eager's third homer of the season, and his first since his two-homer game against Michigan State on Feb. 27.
- Saturday was ACU's 11th double-digit hit game.
