DENTON, Texas— Wildcats volleyball got out to a great start this weekend at the North Texas Challenge. After a sweep of Montana State to open the day, ACU earned a four-set win over the Tigers of Jackson State. Brea Box had a stellar day with 19 kills and no errors over two matches while hitting .594 on the day. The team found ways to win tight sets while also showing they could bounce back from a tough set loss in the JSU match.

ACU started their weekend with a solid win over Montana State earning a hard-fought sweep. The Wildcats took the first set 25-19 with three players hitting .500 or better in the set. The team utilized a 6-0 run to break a 16-16 tie to go up 1-0 over the Bobcats. Set two was tied at 20-all and ACU rattled off three-straight points, two on kills from
Jada Birkel, to take the 23-20 lead and held on for the 25-23 win. After ACU took a 17-11 lead in set three, the Bobcats battled back, but the team held on for another 25-23 win to earn their first sweep of the season.

The Wildcats got out to a hot start in their second match of the day earning six kills on their first six attack attempts. The team rolled to a 25-16 first set win before the Tigers of Jackson State settled in for the match. JSU kept pace with the Wildcats all through set two and forced the set to extra points winning 27-25. ACU bounced back from that loss hitting .306 and .462 in sets three and four, respectively to close out the match for a 2-0 start to the weekend.
News and Notes
- Brea Box hit .571 for her second-consecutive match hitting over .500. She totaled eight kills with no errors against Montana State.
- Braden Bossier (.333) and Jada Birkel (.353) each hit over .300 against Montana State. This marked Birkel's fourth-straight match hitting .350 or better.
- The Wildcats were efficient and consistent on offense throughout both matches and hit .249 as a team on the day.
- Box exploded for another monster match against JSU with 11 kills on a .611 hitting percentage.
- Lindsey Toney had a solid outing against the Tigers with 24 kills on a .358 hitting percentage.
- Brittney Roberts saw her first action of the season against JSU and recorded four service aces for the Wildcats.
- Bryley Steinhilber notched a career-high 14 digs in the match against JSU.
