ABILENE -- Alyssa Adams had a double-double,
Anna McLeod added 13, and the ACU women's basketball team got a much-needed win on Senior Day over Incarnate Word to cap the regular season Saturday afternoon at the Teague Center. The Wildcats (13-9, 6-7 SLC) clinched a No. 7 seed in the upcoming Southland Conference Tournament, and will see UIW (6-8, 4-5) again, this time in the first round on Wednesday in Katy. ACU hit seven three-pointers, and pulled away in the second half, winning 64-55.
Southland Significance
ACU will be the No. 7 seed, and match up with the No. 10 seed UIW on the opening day of the tournament, Wednesday, March 11, at the Leonard E. Merrell Center. The full bracket will be announced Saturday night, and the full times will be announced as well.
Turning Point: The final two minutes of the game.
It was a one-point ACU lead at the end of the third quarter, and despite getting multiple fourth-quarter leads, UIW cut it to one with two minutes to play. Then
Madi Miller hit her second three-pointer of the game to put ACU up four, 56-52. ACU then hit clutch free throws down the stretch to put the game away, pulling away by nine points.
