ACU STORYLINES

  • SOUTHLAND IMPLICATIONS: ACU is currently in eighth place in the conference standings, with the top 10 going to Katy for the upcoming tournament. The Wildcats sit with 18 points (three points for every win, one point for each game that will not get made up), and need a win this week to ensure a spot in the postseason.
  • MORGAN'S CAREER NIGHT: In the very young career of freshman Taylor Morgan, the guard put together her best game in a Wildcat uniform. Her 12 points, four field goals made, four rebounds, and two steals vs. Sam Houston all were career-bests during her inaugural season.
  • GRISWOLD'S PLAY IN CONWAY: Redshirt sophomore Sarah Griswold matched her best game as a Wildcat in points (12), and was clutch down the stretch in the game with key shots. Griswold added six rebounds Saturday as well.
  • DEFENSE PLAYING WELL: The Wildcats, who are more known for their offense, have had stretches of outstanding defense this season. ACU is 12-1 when allowing less than 70 points, and before the Sam Houston game allowed just 51, 56, and 65 points in the previous three games. ACU allowed just 55 to Central Arkansas as well.

SCOUTING SFA (20-2, 12-0 SLC)

  • Zya Nugent is right behind at 12.9 points per contest, while Aiyana Johnson is the leading rebounder on the team at 6.5 RPG.
