WACO, Texas—ACU traveled to face the Lady Bears of Baylor on Thursday evening to begin a busy weekend. The Wildcats came into the game with a 1-3 record and hoped they could find a little magic to help upset a team that is receiving votes in the coaches' poll. While they were able to get on the board early, Baylor found offense early and often to earn the 10-1 win in five innings.
Blair Clayton hit her third homerun of the season in the top of the first to give ACU the 1-0 lead but Baylor had an answer and more. The Lady Bears put up a run of their own in the bottom of the first, but it was a six-run second inning that gave them the momentum offensively. Baylor plated three more runs in the fourth and held off the Wildcats in the top of the fifth to earn the win.

Farler Figures
On Hefner's performance in relief: "Jill did a great job for us. She gave us plenty of opportunities to make outs and stop the bleeding unfortunately we didn't take advantage of all the balls she got us. Jill showed great leadership and composure in tough circumstances."
On preparing for tomorrow's start of tournament play: "I expect the team to bounce back quickly and learn from the mistakes we made today. The loss was embarrassing and not a reflection of where we are at as a team at this point. I expect to see them come out and compete tomorrow on offense, defense and in the circle."
