ACU looks to move to 3-0 in SLC, hosts Lamar Saturday afternoon

ABILENE – The Wildcats women's basketball team is on a tear to start out the 2019-20 season. ACU finished 2019 with a 10-1 record and they will look to continue their success at home Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats will host Dads and Daughters Day as they take on Lamar with the tip slated for 1 p.m. ACU has begun conference play 2-0 with solid wins over New Orleans and Nicholls and hopes to push their record to 3-0 as they host the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon.

SERIES HISTORY
- These teams have met nine times since ACU joined the Southland Conference with Lamar holding the edge 6-3.
- The last meeting between these programs came in the Southland Tournament with ACU winning 88-79.
- The Wildcats are 2-3 against the Cardinals in Abilene, last season Lamar came away with the 63-60 win in Moody Coliseum.

ACU STORYLINES
- ACU continues to climb the Mid-Major Poll with their most recent ranking at No. 12.
- The Wildcats have been lethal offensively, they currently rank fourth in the nation for scoring offense (86.9 ppg) and second in the nation for field goal percentage (50.2).
- Senior, Breanna Wright, continues to lead the team in scoring with 16.2 points per game, but she is one of four players averaging double-digit scoring. Dominique Golightly (13.5), Lexie Ducat (11.3), and Anna McLeod (10.6) are all averaging at least 10 points per game.
- Ducat's 63.8 percent shooting ranks 11th in the country for qualifying players.
- The Wildcats have made their mark by sharing the ball, the average 18.8 assists per game as a team which is 10th in the nation.

SCOUTING LAMAR
- The Cardinals are a much different team from their 17-1 campaign from last year. They lost their top three scorers from last season, including Chastadie Barrs who also set the NCAA career steals mark.
- Their top returning scorer is Jadyn Pimentel who averaged 8.8 points a year ago and is averaging 9.8 points per game this year. Their current leading scorer is transfer, Amber Vidal, who is averaging 13.1 ppg.
- Lamar began conference play with wins over SLU and Northwestern State, but fell at home Thursday night to New Orleans, 57-62.
- Unlike the Wildcats, Lamar struggles to shoot from range having just a .259 mark from deep on the season.
