No. 16 Texas A&M uses fast start to top ACU

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 16 Texas A&M Aggies got out to a fast start Sunday evening, propelling them to a 4-0 win over the ACU soccer team at Ellis Field. ACU improved from the first half to the second half in all aspects, and will take the positives with them into next week.

The Numbers
- Texas A&M scored twice in the opening minute to grab the lead.
- ACU improved its shot total from one in the first half to seven for the game.
- Freshman Natalie Jones led ACU with a pair of shot attempts
- Christina Arteaga, Emily Heidman, Sophie Standifer, Jordan Michie, and Laura Mauldin each recorded a shot as well.
- Erin Smith tallied four saves.

"(Texas) A&M is obviously a great team and they were a handful tonight. We made a couple costly mistakes in the first couple minutes and paid the price for it. However, we did some good things tonight and we know we can build on that. We are not discouraged by what happened."

What's Next
- The team heads to Lubbock, Texas next Friday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. to take on the Lady Raiders of Texas Tech. ACU then travels west to Portales, N.M. for a date with Eastern New Mexico on Sunday, Sept. 8.
