ABILENE – The Nicholls State Colonels completed a three-game Southland Conference sweep against Abilene Christian Saturday with an 8-0 victory.
NSU's Megan Landry threw a complete game while allowing just two hits to claim the victory. She improved to 11-2 on the season as the visitors ended the series with a season record of 15-13, 5-1 in the conference. ACU fell to 7-18 overall and 1-8 in the Southland.
The Colonels scored four runs on five hits in the top of the first inning to jump out to the early lead.
Kali Clement added a home run for the visitors in the top of the third and Maegen Ellis scored on a tag when Samantha Dares recorded a sacrifice fly to right field. The visitors added two more in the top of the seventh frame as part of a three-hit inning.
ACU's two hits came from
Blair Clayton and
Linsey Tomlinson while
Samantha Bradley fell to 2-12 in the circle for the Wildcats.
ACU will return to action at home on Tuesday, March 26 when it hosts North Texas at 6 p.m. The contest is slated as the "Go Pink Game" for cancer awareness, and the special evening is sponsored by Hendrick Women's Services.
