Spencer Chirpich, who was close to throwing a complete-game shutout this time last week at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, retired the first five batters he faced with three-consecutive strikeouts before surrendering back-to-back home runs in the second inning to Nick Ray and Nathan Pilutti.
The Lions (9-12, 2-2 Southland) scored once more off Chirpich (4K) in the third and was lifted with two outs in the fourth after Southeastern La. scored five times on five hits, including Ray's second home run.
SLU's left fielder blasted his third home run of the night as part of a four-run ninth inning to finish the game 3-for-5 with three runs and five RBI.
Trevino's three-hit performance lifted his season batting average to .400 (32-80).
