HAMMOND, Louisiana – The ACU Wildcats close out their three-game road trip Saturday at the University Center when they take on Southeastern Louisiana in a Southland Conference battle. The game is set for a 4 p.m. start after the women's 1 p.m. game. Both the women's and men's games can be heard on 98.1 FM The Ticket.
Scouting the Wildcats
• ACU's 73-72 win over McNeese on Wednesday was head coach Joe Golding's 100th career victory, all of them coming at ACU. Golding was 24-30 in his first two seasons (2011-12, 2012-13), which were ACU's final two seasons at the NCAA Division II level. In ACU's first two seasons at the NCAA Division I level (2013-14, 2014-15), the Wildcats were 21-41, giving him a 45-71 career record. However, in ACU's last four seasons the Wildcats are 55-53 to give Golding a record of 100-124 in his eighth season. ACU is 29-19 in its last two seasons and 10-11 in the Southland Conference.
• Junior guard Payten Ricks – who buried five 3-pointers in Wednesday's win and scored a game-high 19 points – ranks seventh in the nation in 3-point field percentage (49.4 percent) and 19th in the country in total steals (36). Those 36 steals are the top total in the Southland Conference.
• Senior point guard Jaylen Franklin leads the Southland Conference in total assists (75) and is second in the league in assists per game (4.7) and third in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.21).
• Senior forward Jaren Lewis — who was one rebound against McNeese from recording his 16th career double-double — is third in the league in field goal percentage (50.9 percent).
• The Wildcats rank sixth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (41.9 percent) and 22nd in the country in field goal percentage (49.2 percent). The Wildcats are eighth in the country in total steals (144), 12th in turnover margin (plus-4.8) and 17th in steals per game (9.0).
Scouting the Lions
• Southeastern is the defending Southland Conference co-champion and was picked to finish second in the league in the preseason poll. Senior guard Marlain Veal was voted the preseason Player of the Year.
• The Lions enter Saturday's game at 4-11 overall and 0-2 in the conference and have lost their last five games by a total of 13 points.
• Senior forward Moses Greenwood leads the team in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounds (7.3 per game), while Veal is second in scoring (14.8 ppg) and second in rebounding (4.8 per game). Veal leads the league in assists per game (4.8).
