Wildcat baseball falls to Central Arkansas

ABILENE – Central Arkansas sluggers Keaton Presley, Coby Potvin and Justin McCarty all finished with three RBI in the Bears' 16-4 (8 inning) victory over Abilene Christian Sunday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field.

The Bears improved to 28-18 overall and 16-8 within the Southland Conference following their sweep of the Wildcats, which fell to 19-26 and 5-19.

UCA batted around in the fourth inning, scoring six times on six base hits in taking a 9-1 lead with the key hit a bases-clearing double down the left-field line by Presley. The visitors went on to score four times in the seventh with two runs coming home on Potvin's single up the middle, and in the eighth inning, a dropped fly ball in right field coupled with two wild pitches led to three runs.

The Wildcats' led off their first at-bat with a Matt Muñoz triple (7th of the year) followed by Nolan Ritchie's fly ball to left-field foul territory that made it a 2-1 game, but that's as close as ACU would get as the Bears got a run back on Potvin's third-inning RBI single to the left-center gap.

Riley Donahue supplied a fourth-inning solo home run, which was his fourth of the spring, and an error by the Bears' center fielder led to two seventh inning runs for the Wildcats. Colton Eager reached on an infield single with one out followed by Dalton Dunn's routine base hit to shallow center field, but Presley wasn't paying close enough attention and the ball slipped past him, allowing Eager to score and Dunn to come home one batter later on Seth Watts' RBI ground ball to shortstop.

ACU returns to action Tuesday for the start of a two-game midweek series vs. Mississippi Valley State. Tuesday's and Wednesday's first pitches are set for 6 p.m.
