ABILENE – Abilene Christian baseball dropped the second game of their series vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 9-2, Friday afternoon at Crutcher Scott Field as outfielders Itchy Burts and Nick Anderson went a combined 8-for-10 with six RBI vs. four Wildcat pitchers.
Anderson hit a two-run home run as part of a three-run first inning for the Islanders and Burts' bases-clearing double to the center field wall made it a 7-1 game in the fifth. Corpus Christi went on to add an unearned run in the seventh and a RBI single in the eighth (Drake Osborn) to cap their scoring.
ACU cut the Islanders' lead to 3-1 on
Riley Donahue's third-inning infield single, scoring
Zach Smith, and
Koby Claborn's fly ball to left field in the sixth inning plated
Dalon Farkas, who led off that frame with his 22nd double of the season and 40th as a Wildcat.
Farkas' career doubles total ranks him fifth all-time at ACU and tops among all D1 era players.
A.G. Ayala started for the Islanders and earned the win behind seven strikeouts in 7.0 innings, while ACU's
Colton Brasher was saddled with the loss.
The Wildcats and Islanders conclude their series and the regular season Saturday at noon.
