WACO – Abilene Christian's twin duo of Michaela and
Alexandria Hackett led the Wildcats' women's team, while
Ryan Cleary paced the men Friday at the season-opening Baylor Twilight Invitational at the Heart of Texas Soccer Complex.
Michaela finished first for the Wildcats after covering the 4K course in 13:21.5, coming in behind Baylor's unattached All-Big 12 honoree Lindsey Bradley (13.11.1) and Bear sophomore Anna West (13:19.6). Half a second behind Michaela was sister Alexandria as she finished with a time of 13:21.5, while junior
Carnley Graham completed the race with a mark of 14:07.1.
"Overall we had some really soild performances," said distance coach
Jarvis Jelen, " but we also learned that we have a lot to work on. This race is just a training tool for later in the season and we have some areas to grow in. I'm fairly happy with where our current fitness is and looking forward to the rest of the season."

Briahna Gerlach and senior
Sierra Bennett rounded out the top five for ACU with respective times of 15:05.5 and 15:08.4.
On the men's side, senior
Ryan Cleary clocked a time of 18:42.9, followed by classmate
John Baker (19:07.5) and newcomers
Conner Miller (19:14.7) and
Seth Crockett (19:35.7). Sophomore
Drew Cummings (19:58.9) was the Wildcats' No. 5 runner.
The Baylor Twilight Invitational additionally served as a dual meet between the Wildcats and teams from Texas State and TCU. ACU's women edged TCU, 29-30, and topped the Bobcats, 24-31, while the men beat the Horned Frogs, 19-36, but fell to Texas State, 16-46.
Baylor senior Jordan West was first on the men's side with a time of 18:13.2.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Sept. 16 with they play host the Naimadu Classic at 8 a.m.
