CORPUS CHRISTI -- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored in six of its eight at-bats Friday night as the Islanders knocked off ACU, 10-4, to take the second game of the three-game Southland Conference baseball series at Chapman Field.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 13-38 overall and 3-26 in the Southland, while the Islanders improve to 21-32 and 13-16. The Wildcats' conference finale will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. before they head to Corvallis, Ore., next Thursday-Sunday to take on No. 1-ranked Oregon State.
Corpus drew first blood with four runs in the third inning before ACU answered with three in the third, two of them coming in on an
Anthony Dominguez two-run single. But Corpus scored one in the third, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the eighth to put the game away.
Four ACU pitchers gave up 14 hits and six walks while only recording three strikeouts against Corpus. Senior second baseman
Russell Crippen was 3 for 5 with one run scored and one RBI for ACU, which collected seven hits off five Corpus pitchers.
