ABILENE – Jalone Friday and Drake Green each buried five 3-pointers and ACU hit 15 as a team Tuesday night as the Wildcats ran away from Arlington Baptist in a 109-60 blowout win over the Patriots at Moody Coliseum.
The win pushes the Wildcats to 8-4 on the season, while the Patriots fall to 0-11. The eight non-conference wins for the Wildcats are their most in non-conference play since they made the move from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I affiliation in 2013-14. The Wildcats will close out their non-conference schedule Friday at 2 p.m. when they take on No. 21 Texas Tech at United Spirit Arena.
The Wildcats were never threatened by Arlington Baptist, hitting 25 of 38 shots from the floor in the first half (65.8 percent) compared to just 11 for 27 (40.7 percent) as ACU grabbed a 59-29 lead. The second half was more of the same as ACU buried 20 of 32 shots from the field compared to just 12 of 34 for the Patriots.
The 109 points scored marks the second time this season the Wildcats have topped the century mark in points scored (joining the 112 scored vs. Howard Payne on Nov. 20), and marking just the second time since 2013-14 the Wildcats have done that in one season. ACU scored 108 vs. Dallas Christian and 124 against Southwest Adventist in the 2013-14 season.
Friday finished with 19 points to lead all scorers, while Green had a season-high 15 points, followed by 11 from Payten Ricks and 10 apiece from Jaren Lewis Kolton Kohl. ACU dished out a season-high 30 assists on its 45 field goals and collected 11 blocked shots and 16 steals.
