LUBBOCK - Abilene Christian volleyball lost its first match of Texas Tech's Lone Star Showdown, 3-0, to the host Red Raiders Friday afternoon at United Supermarkets Arena.
Tech hit .267, recorded 7.0 blocks and dug out 51 of ACU's 98 attacks in winning, 25-18, 25-17, 25-9 to improve to 10-0 on season, while the Wildcats fell to 1-10.
Wildcat junior outside hitter Jennie Loerch tied for the match lead with eight kills along with Tech's Lauren Douglass and Mikia Mills. Additional leaders for the Wildcats included junior setter
Sarah Siemens with 18 assists and two block assists, and junior libero
Madison Hoover, who had 11 of the Wildcats' 34 digs. Siemens was assisted on each block by sophomore
Lexi Mercier.
The Wildcats return to the court at 4:30 p.m. today vs. Air Force. ACU leads its all-time series vs. the Falcons, 2-1.
Weber State defeated Air Force in the first match of the Lone Star Showdown Friday morning, 3-1 (14-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21).
