Wildcats Host TexAnns Tuesday

ABILENE – ACU women's basketball squad opens Lone Star South Division play against Tarleton State Tuesday night in Abilene with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.
The Wildcats are looking to snap a three game losing streak as they return to Moody for the first time since a one point overtime loss to Southeastern Oklahoma, 93-92 on December 20. The TexAnns swept the season series last year with the Wildcats as they held off a pair of feverish runs by ACU including a two point loss in Abilene.
Freshman Mack Lankford leads the Wildcats at 16.8 points per game, but was held in check over the weekend in Oklahoma scoring 24 points in two games. Lankford holds the team season high of 35 points in the loss to Southeastern before the holiday break.
Kelsey Smith and Autumn Whitaker are both averaging in double figures while Smith is averaging 13 points per game and adding 8.3 rebounds per game. Whitaker, the Wildcats lone senior, is adding 12.2 points per game.
Tarleton State is coming off their first road loss and only second loss of the season falling 68-54 at Northeastern State. Junior guard Shelby Adamson leads the TexAnns averaging 18.4 points per game and averaging 4 assists per game as well.
