Wildcats Sweep Lions, 3-0

COMMERCE – ACU volleyball extended their winning streak to nine on Saturday afternoon sweeping Texas A&M-Commerce, 3-0 inside the A&M-Commerce Field House.
The Wildcats picked up their 10th win of the season taking an extended first set 26-24, before closing out the Lions 25-23, and 25-17. The Wildcats will finish their non-conference tournament slate next weekend at the Washburn Regional Crossover in Topeka, Kansas facing off with four MIAA teams and two nationally ranked squads.
ACU was led offensively by senior Jordan Schilling who recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs. Schilling also accounted for 11 points for the Wildcats in the sweep.
While the Wildcats were only able to manage five team blocks at the net Kelise Edwards and Schilling were both solid defensively adding double figure digs. Senior Shawna Hines however, did record two solo blocks on the afternoon and led ACU in hitting at a .316 clip.
Both teams struggled with errors in the first two sets as the Lions kept both sets close. The Wildcats would pull away in the final set holding A&M-Commerce to .086 hitting percentage while hitting a match high .231 in the win.
ACU will return to action on Friday at the Washburn Regional Crossover taking on a quartet of MIAA teams including No. 13 Emporia State and No. 16 Truman State.
