ABILENE -- Tuesday's women's basketball game between ACU and Texas
A&M-Kingsville will have a tremendous bearing on the Lone Star
Conference South Division championship race, but with your help it
could also have an impact on the fight against breast cancer.
The ACU women's basketball team will be hosting a “Pink Zone” promotion Tuesday night at Moody Coliseum to help raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
ACU will play Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m. Tuesday and fans are being asked to wear pink to the game as part of a Women's Basketball Coaches' Association initiative to make people aware that breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer among women in the United States. Fans will also be asked to make a donation at the game with all of the money going to the Abilene Alliance for Women and Children.
Part of the mission of the Abilene Alliance for Women and Children is to provide breast and cervical cancer screenings to medically underserved women and breast health education to all citizens of Abilene and the West Central Texas region.
So, let's reach beyond the court and into our schools and communities to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. Whether you wear a pink ribbon, a pink t_shirt, make a donation or hand out flyers, the importance comes in the awareness you create. So get your pink ready today! Join the ACU Wildcats and the Texas A&M-Kingsville Lady Javelinas on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. for the 2009 Pink Zone Event. Let's all be part of finding an answer.
