ABILENE - The ACU women's soccer team enters their final home games of the regular season this weekend as they host Texas Woman's and Texas A&M Commerce. The Wildcats are 8-4-1 and 3-1-1 in the LSC after falling to SW Oklahoma and knocking off Central Oklahoma both on the road last week.
The Wildcats fell one spot in the South Central Region to No. 5 this week. ACU is just one spot behind conference foe and fourth ranked Midwestern State, while Angelo State rounds out the region as the only other LSC member in the regional rankings.
In the home finale for the Wildcats they will face two of the better defensive teams in the conference. Texas Woman's goalkeeper comes into the weekend with 51 saves just four saves behind LSC leader and ACU goalkeeper Crissy Lawson. The Lions boast two solid net keepers with Randi Hafele who is second in the conference in save percentage at .929. Also for TAMCU is Taylor Jordan who has appeared in nine games and ranks second in saves per game averaging 5.56 a contest.
Junior Lyndsey Womack is coming off an injury where she missed three games before last weekend. However, she did not waste any time scoring a goal and recording an assist in ACU's 4-2 victory over UCO.
Freshmen making a needed impact on the offensive end for the Wildcats have been Julie Coppedge and Lexi Stirling. Coppedge is currently second on the Wildcats with four goals all of which have been game winners. Stirling has also had an immediate impact as she has recorded three goals and two assists this season. Also making her first start of the season and her career freshmen Arielle Moncure made her first start at goalkeeper filling in for an injured Crissy Lawson.
