Guiton earns honor

ABILENE -- ACU guard Alex Guiton has been voted first team ESPN The Magazine academic all-District VI by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the 2007-08 season.

Guiton, a senior from Fort Worth, is carrying a 3.96 grade point average while majoring in communication disorders. She has been a key cog on the floor for the Wildcats of late as they have reeled off eight straight wins to improve to 16-9 overall and 10-2 in the Lone Star Conference South Division. Guiton is averaging 15.7 points per game in LSC South Division games and 14.7 ppg overall.

Guiton and the Wildcats will be back in action Wednesday when they go to Canyon to take on West Texas A&M in a game that could determine the LSC South Division champion. An ACU win would give both teams 11-2 records with one game, but the Wildcats would hold the tiebreaker edge over the Lady Buffs with a season sweep. Meanwhile, a West Texas A&M win would give the Lady Buffs the LSC South Division title.
