ACU takes eighth straight in win over St. Edward's

AUSTIN ? Abilene Christian won its eighth-straight volleyball match with a 20-25, 25-23, 25-22, 24-26, 16-4 win over St. Edward's in the Wildcats' final non-conference match of the season Tuesday night. Freshman Britni Golden led the Wildcats with 17 kills and Ericka Dickinson had 54 assists in her first start at setter this season.

The Wildcats hit .197 as a team with Jordan Schilling adding 16 kills and Jennie Hutt posting 14. Hutt had a double-double with 15 digs, led the team in hitting at a .367 percentage, and helped with three blocks. Golden also tallied a double-double by adding 13 digs.

St. Edward's managed to hit .237 but couldn't come up with the victory. The home team also had three players in double figures in the kills category. Ashley Vander Hey led with 16 kills in the losing effort while Teal Clark added 15 and Lindsey Douglas had 11.

The Wildcats improved to 22-8 on the season while St. Edward's dropped to 13-12 overall. ACU has two more Lone Star Conference matches at home Thursday against Southeastern Oklahoma and Saturday against East Central. Then, the Wildcats will head to the LSC Tournament Nov. 13-15 in Canyon.
