ABILENE -- ACU senior distance standout
Julius Nyango has been honored as the LSC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week.
Nyango finished eighth last Saturday to help the Wildcats to a fourth-place finish at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla. Nyango covered the 8000-meter course in 24:23 to pace the Wildcats, who are the second-ranked team in NCAA Division II cross country.
The ACU men's team dropped in the national rankings from No. 1 to No. 2 as ACU and Adams State (Colo.) swapped places in this week's United States Track
and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll. The Wildcats ran to a fourth-place finish last Saturday at the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree
in Stillwater, Okla., finishing behind Oklahoma State, Northern Arizona and Indiana.
The Wildcats will be back in action Oct. 14 in the San Angelo Classic and will then run next Saturday (Oct. 18) at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. The LSC championship meet is set for Saturday, Oct. 25, in Kingsville.
