Wildcats fall to Texans, 91-59
Big second-half run helps TSU pull away from Wildcats
STEPHENVILLE -- No. 15 Tarleton State outscored ACU 19-2 to start the second half Thursday night to turn a close game into a blowout as the Texans beat the Wildcats, 91-59, in a Lone Star Conference South Division game at Wisdom Gym.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 8-15 overall and 3-5 in the LSC South Division, while the Texans improve to 19-4 and 8-0. ACU is still in the hunt for a spot in the LSC Post-Season Tournament and will play Saturday at 4 p.m. at Moody Coliseum against Midwestern State.
The Wildcats trailed just 39-29 at halftime, but the Texans put this one in the win column by outscoring ACU by 17 points in the first 4:32 of the second half. Jon Davis had seven of his game-high 23 points in the run as the Texans pushed the lead to 27 points.
The Texans blistered the nets in the second half, hitting 21 of 31 shots from the field (67.7 percent), including 4 of 8 from 3-point range.
ACU was led by Demarcquez Rembert, who scored 19 points and was 5 for 5 from 3-point range.
