ACU drops 10th road game of the season
KINGSVILLE -- Robert Hamilton led three Texas A&M-Kingsville players in double figures with 22 points Saturday as the Javelinas beat ACU, 88-59, in a Lone Star Conference South Division game at the Steinke P.E. Center.
The loss is the seventh straight for the Wildcats, who fall to 8-17 overall and 1-9 in the LSC South Division. ACU has lost 13 of its last 14 games, and will finish the season with a 1-10 road record. The Javelinas, meanwhile, improve to 16-9 and 7-3 after having already clinched a berth in the LSC Post-Season Tournament.
The Wildcats trailed 41-30 at halftime and then hit just 8 of 25 shots in the second half (32 percent) as the Javelinas steadily pulled away for the win. ACU hit just 1 of 13 3-point attempts (8 percent), while Kingsville was 9 for 18 from the arc. Eddie Lopez had 21 points and Quendale Allensowrth added 10 for the Javelinas.
Hakim Rasul was the only Wildcat player in double figures with 28 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
ACU will close out the season later this week when it hosts Texas A&M-Commerce (Thursday at 8 p.m.) and Midwestern State (Saturday at 6 p.m.) at Moody Coliseum.
