ACU set to host regional
Wildcat men favored to repeat; women looking to snap skid
ABILENE -- The ACU men's and women's cross country teams will each be seeking berths in the NCAA Division II national championship meet Saturday when they host the NCAA Division II South Central Regional meet at Sherrod Residential Park.
The women's 6000 meter race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's 10,000 meter race at noon.
The ACU men -- ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in the region -- are favored to win their sixth straight regional championship. The ACU women -- ranked No. 25 in the nation and No. 3 in the region -- will have to topple either Central Missouri State or Pittsburg State in order to earn their first berth in the national meet since 1997.
