Wildcats roll to win over Lady Savages

Four Wildcats hit double figures in 93-60 victory

ABILENE -- The ACU Wildcats returned to the court in style Thursday as they rolled to a 93-60 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State in a Lone Star Conference crossover matchup at Moody Coliseum.

The easy victory was the third straight for the Wildcats, who improved to 7-3 on the season.  The Lady Savages, meanwhile, fell to 1-11 with the loss.

ACU put the game away in the first half as junior center Jamie Boles scored 20 of her game-high 22 points in the first half on 9 of 9 shooting from the floor.  She also nine rebounds in the first half on her way to a game-high 11 and her first double-double of the season.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 17-4 lead in the game's opening moments, a run that ws capped by junior Ashley King's 3-pointer at the 16:09 mark.  King didn't start after suffering a slight shoulder separation on Dec. 13 against Northestern State, but she played 17 minutes and scored five points to go along with seven assists and three rebounds, and she should be ready to start Saturday when ACU hosts East Central at 2 p.m. in Moody Coliseum.

The last time King played East Central (March 2, 2004, in LSC Post-Season Tournament), she scored a career-high 29 points and set NCAA and LSC records by going 8 for 8 from 3-point range in a 99-67 ACU win.

The Lady Savages actually cut ACU's lead to 21-15 at the 12:17 mark, but ACU immediately ripped off an 11-3 run that pushed the lead back to 14 at 10:03.  The run was capped at the 10:03 mark of the first half on a layup by Haley Hammond.

ACU was never seriously challenged in the second half as it steadily pulled away behind the play of its backups.

Freshman Alex Guiton had 11 points, while Kierststan Barbee had 18 and Hammond 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.
