Dunavant, Webb to head training program
Former assistants moved to head athletics trainers
ABILENE -- ACU director of athletics Jared Mosley announced Thursday that former assistant athletics trainer Jason "J.D." Dunavant has been promoted to Director of Athletics Training and Head Men's Trainer, effective immediately.
Also receiving a promotion is former assistant athletics trainer Britney Webb, who is now the Head Women's Trainer at ACU. The two promotions became necessary last month after former head athletics trainer Rick Fox left ACU to return to the high school ranks as the head athletics trainer at Burnet High School. Former ACU all-conference running back Bob Shipley is the head football coach and athletics coordinator at Burnet.
Dunavant is beginning his fifth season on the ACU training staff. Before joining the ACU training staff, Dunavant was an assistant trainer at the University of Arkansas where he served on the staff as trainer for the Razorbacks' track and field program.
Dunavant graduated from the University of Louisiana-Monroe and then received his master's degree from the University of Arkansas. Webb, who also is in charge of recruiting student trainers to ACU, is beginning her third year at ACU. Webb, a 1995 magna cum laude graduate of Tarleton State University, received her master's of education from Tarleton State in 1997. She also is a licensed athletic trainer (LAT).
Her experience includes from student athletic trainer (1991-95 at Tarleton State) and instructor of physical education at TSU in 1996. She also has been the co-head athletics trainer at Granbury High School (1997-2001) and served as the athletics trainer for the Mesquite Professional Rodeo (2001-02).
Her husband, Bryan, is the director of athletics and the head football and baseball coach at Baird High School.
